Miriam N. Kotzin

Second Glance

Look again. I was never photogenic,
but anyone who saw the picture
flashed on local news or buried
in the second section of the paper
would be disappointed with the likeness.

This last joins the photos
taken through the years
of me, smiling, eyes closed,
standing beside a series
of irrelevant men.
Now I only seem to blink at life.

I cannot be held responsible
for the failure of these photographs,
for my lack of expression. Look
again. It may be up to you
to identify the body.
